Under the general supervision of the Director Patient Access Services
collect, review and maintain proper documentation for all Mass Health/HSN(uncompensated care) applicants. Determine action to be taken, such as write-offs, to categories of Bad Debt and Free Care
CAC (Certified Application Counselor) required
*Responsible for the proper maintenance of Uncompensated Care information. *Responsible for reviewing accounts and contacting patients regarding outstanding balances and assisting with applying for insurance.
- Maintain proper confidentiality compliance and perform all duties in a professional and customer friendly manner.
Job Description:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a working knowledge of Credit and Collections Policies and Procedures, and automated procedures, functions and reports. Maintain current knowledge of regulations relating to MassHealth, HSN(Uncompensated Care), 501R Federal Assistance Policy and Bad Debt.
Contact patients to attempt to set up payment plans or settlements of accounts.
Employee maintains competencies (position specific and hospital-wide) required for the specific patient population served.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures..
May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
CAC (Certified Application Counselor) required
Equivalent to completion of a high school program plus one year of related clerical experience, preferably in the fiscal area.
One year of knowledge regarding hospital Credit and Collection policies and Commonwealth of Mass Virtual Gateway System.
