MCW: SARGEANT HEALTH CENTER Postdoctoral Fellow in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: One or more full time postdoctoral positions are available immediately for highly motivated postdoctoral scholars interested in vascular or neural mechanisms in blood pressure control related to hypertension in the laboratory of Dr. Curt D. Sigmund in the Department of Physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A qualified candidate for this position is expected to have a strong publication record and excellent references from PhD or postdoctoral research. A notable feature of this postdoctoral fellowship will be experience in combining state-of-the-art genetic and molecular methods (including CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing) with sophisticated physiologic techniques to address fundamental mechanisms of vascular and neural function in genetically modified mouse models in hypertension. Proficiency in physiology or pharmacology and experience with genetics and molecular biology is highly desired. Potential project includes: 1) examining genomic interactions regulating PPAR target gene expression in vascular smooth muscle and endothelium, 2) physiological, and proteomic analysis of Cullin-3 adaptors and substrates in vascular smooth muscle and endothelium, and 3) relative role of angiotensin II receptor G protein and -arrestin signaling related to fluid homeostasis, metabolic function and blood pressure. The successful applicants can be expected to use sophisticated tools in physiological genomics utilizing cell and primary culture, and organ and whole mouse physiology. They will work in a multidisciplinary team with a diversity of interests, ideas, and experiences.
