Happy's Potato Chip Company 2nd Shift Mechanic Maintenance Technician in Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Machine Maintenance Mechanic or Technician is responsible for set-up, installation, and troubleshooting of machinery and facility. Participation in facility maintenance, repair, equipment installation, and other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP s) and Food Safety/Quality Programs of the manufacturing plant. Consistently on the watch for food safety and reports food safety and/or food quality issues to supervisor. Shift Time: 2:00pm - 10:30pm Days: Monday - Friday Job Duties: 1) Assure that the production and packaging machines are running at standard speeds or at the supervisor s direction and to proper quality specifications. 2) Complete scheduled preventive maintenance. 3) Troubleshoot and repair machinery as necessary to maintain productivity. 4) Monitor the production equipment and report any problems that cannot be immediately handled to the supervisor. 5) Work with other mechanics and PMO s as a team, to maintain productivity. 6) Participate in machine and in general plant maintenance and repair as needed. 7) Participate in the installation of new machinery as needed. 8) Work on assigned work orders. 9) Perform weekly/daily machine/equipment inspections. 10) Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controller PLC. 11) Adhere to standard procedures regarding maintenance performed on food surfaces or in the vicinity of food surfaces to ensure these areas are cleaned to company standards and free of contaminates before restart. 12) Watch for and report any food safety or food quality issues to supervisor. 13) Follows plant GMP s and Food Safety and Quality Programs. 12) Other related duties as directed by supervisor. Job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years working experience with form, fill and film machinery. Past troubleshooting experience with PLC s desired. Experience may be replaced with successful completion of a secondary two-year technical education in packaging, electrical, electronics or related field. Essential job functions: 1) Trouble shoot & repair packaging machines to maintain limited down time. 2) Mechanical aptitude. 3) Ability to interpret and understand maintenance manuals which are written in English. 4) Maneuver around machinery 100% of the workday. 5) Climb ladders/stairs as needed throughout the day. 6) Lift heavy, even or uneven loads weighing up to 64 pounds. 7) Bend or squat 5-20% of the workday. 8) Work in awkward or tight work areas. 9) Maneuver cautiously on slippery floors surfaces. 10) Work on elevated platforms. 11) Work in hot, humid, cold, noisy, wet and odorous environment. 12) Use hands and arms outstretched from body or overhead. 13) Hear and communicate respectfully with others in noise, to insure quality and safety. 14) Successfully completes the safety training and adheres to the requirements. 15) Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, hearing protection, gloves, respirator, etc. 16) Work up to 40 hours per week or more if needed. 17) Must have dependable attendance. 18) Work safely with and around electricity and moving machinery. 19) Maintain authorization to operate lift trucks. This is a Union Position with Twin Cities Bakery Workers Local 22. Overtime on anything worked over 8 hours in a day. On Time Bonus earned weekly.
