This is a 100%-time, 12-month, annually renewable appointment in the academic professional and administrative (P&A) personnel series (job classification 9702AN, SS Pro 2-Admissions). This includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, 22 paid time off days, one personal holiday in addition to the existing 12 University holidays DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Freshman Recruitment & Outreach (50%) * Serve as the face of CLA for prospective first-year students interested in pursuing liberal arts majors at the U of M. * Recruit and facilitate enrollment of high achieving and underrepresented prospective College of Liberal Arts students. * Participate and assist with the execution of CLA recruitment via targeted calling campaigns to encourage students to attend on-campus events and visits. Campus Visit Coordination (20%) * Proactively plan and execute specialized visits to create a memorable experience for students by following a strategic visit model created by the Office of Admissions and the College of Liberal Arts. * Collaborate with CLA to plan, facilitate, and execute campus visits for students. * Engage and utilize the CLA Ambassador program to assist with on-campus visits, specialized experiences, and recruitment. Application Review & Office of Admissions Support (15%) * Provide admissions counseling and extra-mile customer service to prospective students. Manage and respond to all freshman CLA inquiries, including phone calls, emails, text messages, calling campaigns, etc. * Evaluate academic and other credentials for admission decisions and counseling purposes. * Identify top students to be invited to participate in the BA/MD program Yield & Enrollment Project Support (15%) * Identify top students to recommend for merit and need-based scholarships aligned with the enrollment goals of CLA. * Assist in advising the CLA Ambassador Student Group * Use data and personal student relationships to inform CLA of important information and impactful recruitment efforts. * Special projects as assigned by the College of Liberal Arts and the Office of Admissions, based on personal strengths or abilities. The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Salary range for admissions counselor is $46,000 - $52,000, depending on qualifications. Work Arrangement: Hybrid with onsite location in the Williamson Building, Office of Admissions, 231 Pillsbury Dr SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree and two years relevant work experience, or a master's degree * Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed * Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in practice * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and/or recruitment experience. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative. * Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and departments to maintain healthy stakeholder relationships. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Preference given to candidates with University of Minnesota experience, defined broadly, such as former student, graduate, employee, or community member of any campus * Preference given to candidates with admissions and/or recruitment experience. * Event planning or project management experience preferre .
