WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Bank Reconciliation Supervisor - Shared Services plays a critical role in the Bank Reconciliation Shared Services workstream which is a key component of the Bank Reconciliation Center of Excellence ("BRCE"). The Shared Services workstream supports the advancement of TNCs goals: sharpening our focus, strengthening our culture, and driving operational excellence. This role will have the opportunity to support organization-wide operational excellence through the optimization of people, processes, systems, and compliance via performing and delivering core finance services/workstreams in bank reconciliations. BRCE sits within the central Finance Business Unit (BU), allowing for more standardized processes and creating more efficiencies and synergy across the core finance services/workstreams. Specifically, the Bank Reconciliation Supervisor - Shared Services will oversee the finance and/or accounting activities of one or more Senior Bank Reconciliation Accountant(s). The role will partner with BRCE leadership and liaise with BU Finance Leaders to provide guidance and finance support for bank reconciliations. Position location is flexible within the United States or an established Nature Conservancy office within the United States. The Bank Reconciliation Supervisor - Shared Services is responsible for overseeing the work of one or more Senior Bank Reconciliation Accountant(s) by answering more complex technical questions, guiding their work, and reviewing their bank reconciliations as well as bank reconciliations from preparers across the Conservancy. They will also prepare reconciliations of the complex general ledger accounts, monitor, and report the timeliness and quality of bank reconciliation performance, prepare journal entries, and review transactions necessary to address reconciling items. This role serves as a technical expert on reconciliation issues and is a liaison between Worldwide Office and business units to ensure compliance with internal and external financial, accounting, and administrative policies and procedures. As part of this liaison function, the Bank Reconciliation Supervisor - Shared Services is expected to communicate deficiencies in bank reconciliations promptly and assist the bank reconciliation preparers with corrections and resolution of reconciling items. The Bank Reconciliation Supervisor - Shared Services will be responsible for updating and maintaining templates and procedures necessary to complete bank reconciliation and will be responsible for providing and explaining documentation to internal and external auditors, including responding to moderately complex questions and problems from these audiences. They are also responsible for implementing and communicating new accounting/financial procedures to non-financial audiences as well as auditors. The Bank Reconciliation Supervisor - Shared Services will report to the Associate Director of the BRCE and assist them with ad hoc projects pertaining to the BRCE. RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE Reviews the work of one or more Senior Bank Reconciliation Accountant(s). Reviews and/or prepares complex bank reconciliations and ensures reconciling items are communicated and resolved timely. Builds and maintains strong internal working relationships across different countries, cultures, and time zones. Under limited supervision acts independently, resolves complex issues, and acts as a resource to others. Coordinates and participates in projects. Ensures programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance. WHAT YOU'LL BRING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination. Experience preparing and reviewing complex bank reconciliations. Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis. Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices, and regulations. Technical experience with spreadsheet programs, general ledger reports, and financial management tools Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Non-profit accounting experience preferred. May require technical expertise in complex accounting/financial issues. Experience in manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data. Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask. Professional certification such as a CPA or CIA, or a candidate for the same preferred.
