Your key tasks will include developing University-wide fringe rates, analyzing and reporting on fringe benefits, payroll costs, and student financial aid funds. Additionally, you'll handle balance sheet reconciliations, approve journal entries, and prepare financial statement account fluctuation analyses and year-end audit schedules. Being part of the Controller's Office, your role contributes to efficient financial operations across various departments, colleges, and campuses. Accuracy and cost-effectiveness are our priorities as we provide essential financial information for decision-making. Work Environment: Hybrid Salary Range: $77,000-$83,000 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 25% - Provide Support to University Department Fringe Benefits and Payroll Expenses Processes. Investigate, research, and provide resolution to TDX tickets. Process correcting journal entries when necessary. Complete information requests made by central Human Resource and Budget offices for the fringe and payroll area. Special projects as assigned. 25% - Complete Tasks for External and Internal University-wide Financial Reporting. Prepare journal entries and related calculation support. Prepare audit lead schedules and variance analysis. Prepare footnote disclosures. Special projects as assigned. 15% - Provide Support to the Office of Student Finance Financial Processes. Prepare analyses and reporting on student financial aid funds. Prepare financial aid draw and administrative cost allowance requests. Provide financial section information for the FISAP report to the various campuses for their submission to the federal government. Special projects as assigned. 20% - Develop Fringe Benefit Rates Used by University Departments. Perform financial analysis and reporting on fringe benefit and payroll costs. Initiate related fringe benefit and payroll journal entries and financial statement adjustments. Work cross-functionally to address the fringe benefit and payroll processes to include month review of transactions that post to the various fringe pool DEPTID's to ensure accuracy. Special projects as assigned. 5% - Prepare and Approve Departmental Journal Entries Processed in General Ledger Prepare journal entries and related calculation support. Communicate with departments to provide resolution. 10% - Prepare and/or Review Balance Sheet Account Analysis as Assigned. Physical Demands: N/A Qualifications Required Qualifications: Working knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Strong analytical skills to understand the impact of detailed processes and related transactions. Problem solving, critical thinking, and ability to independently troubleshoot potential solutions. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Advanced spreadsheet and database skills. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Accounting Five years of experience in GAAP accounting and financial reporting. Preferred Qualifications: Financial reporting in a non-profit or higher education setting. Experience with ERP systems (PeopleSoft/Oracle, SAP) and related reporting tools and queries. CPA preferred.
