Department Overview Children's Hospital Medicine Program is a collaborative medical practice of pediatricians and APPs (Nurse Practitioners and PAs) who specialize in the care of hospitalized infants, children and teenagers. This is a 24/7/365 on-site service at both the Minneapolis and St. Paul hospital campuses. The Hospitalist APP provides assessments and creates a medical plan of care for hospitalized patients on admission, daily, and upon discharge. The APP performs these tasks independently and in collaboration with the physician hospitalist. The APP will collect and synthesize data from historical information, diagnostic tests, therapeutic interventions, and physical examination to determine diagnosis and appropriate intervention consistent with their scope of practice, experience, board certification, and organizational professional staff policy. The hospitalist APP works closely with hospital sub-specialists, surgical staff, nursing staff and social workers as part of creating a comprehensive treatment plan for patients and their families during their hospital stay. Qualifications Education : APRN: Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program. Master's Degree required; Doctorate preferred. Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistants program. Master's degree required; Doctorate preferred License / Certification : APRN: Current MN RN/APRN License. Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Current BLS certification. Physician Assistant: MN Physician Assistant License. National Certification required by NCCPA. Current BLS certification. Experience : Current/previous experience in inpatient pediatrics as a nurse, nurse practitioner or PA preferred. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's Minnesota.
