Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute Research Informatics Analyst III in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute's Research and Evaluations Data Analytics Core (REDAC) is looking for a Research Informatics Analyst to specialize in data visualization and database queries. Immediate needs include designing, building and maintaining public-facing dashboards, producing dynamic reports in R, and responding to data requests using the Virtual Data Warehouse (VDW). This is a hybrid remote position. Work will primarily be done from home with opportunities to meet in-person with other staff and analysts once a week at our office in downtown Minneapolis. REDAC is a growing, flexible, and collaborative team working on innovative data projects across Hennepin Healthcare and HHRI. The VDW is the key data resource supporting our work and housing two common data models (HCSRN and OMOP). Candidates should be comfortable working on multiple projects at one time with flexible project timelines and be able to propose and complete tasks independently. Ideal for someone from a research, informatics, analytics or data science background with strong experience working with data visualizations and relational databases, as well as a desire to harness their skills to support health equity research in Minnesota. REDAC often collaborates with the Health, Homelessness and Criminal Justice Lab at the Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute. Projects may focus on health equity issues, especially homelessness and/or incarceration. Subject matter knowledge or lived experience in these areas is helpful, but not required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Design, build and maintain dashboards in Power BI Design, build and maintain dynamic data visualizations using R Process data in R to support data visualizations Design data visualizations for research studies and manuscripts Triage and fulfill VDW data and analysis requests using SQL and R Proactively and independently manage assigned projects and project tasks. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Contribute to complex analyses, including statistics, modelling and predictive analytics Build code to automate data processes Evaluate and propose data methods and technologies for improving data resources EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education/Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Engineering (B.E.), with at least 6 years of applicable experience or Masters-level degree in computer science, information technology, data science, statistics, or a related field, with at least four years of applicable experience. Previous experience with electronic health record data or common data models such as OMOP is preferred. Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA): Required: Process data using R Design and implement data visualizations, both in R and dynamic data visualization software, including Power BI, Tableau or similar Query data from relational databases using SQL Follow and establish standard operating procedures within and across research projects and systems (health care, public health, academic, government, community-based organizations) Work independently within guidelines, be organized, and establish priorities. Displays high standards of attendance and punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively Preferred: Advanced skills in creating dashboards Advanced experience using Power BI Advanced data visualization skills in R Experience producing dynamic analytic or research reports using R Experience working with health care data Experience with multiple data visualization platforms Knowledge of data models commonly used in a healthcare services or research setting, including the HCSRN or OMOP data models Understanding of data quality assurance best practices and processes Desire to participate in research and contribute to project development and analysis Demonstrat d interest and aptitude in emerging data methods and technologies AA/EOE of Minorities, Women, Veterans, Disabilities AA/EOE of Minorities/Females/Vets/Disability
