Current research projects include research to design more environmentally friendly road-stream crossings (culverts) and winter research to study river ice. Research activities will include: Conducting indoor and outdoor flume experiments, collecting flow measurements using specialized equipment, characterizing sediment in the laboratory, processing and analyzing data and collecting ice cores and measuring ice thickness and strength. Experience with MS Word and MS Excel. *PREFERRED: Experience conducting research. Demonstrated experience working in team settings. Coursework in water resources engineering, hydrology, environmental science, open channel flow, stream ecology, fisheries, geology or similar fields. Experience with light construction or mechanical aptitude. Experience with MATLAB and/or other programming languages is a plus, as is experience with field work. An ideal candidate will be ready to learn new skills, be organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks, enjoy working outside and as part of a team, and have basic data collection and analysis skills.
