Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Infection Preventionist assists leadership in the promotion and application of measures to prevent and/or control infections among patients, visitors, contractors, and employees. This individual will facilitate compliance with the many regulatory agencies with oversight to healthcare facilities. This individual will observe, evaluate, educate, and implement Infection Prevention practices and activities. The Infection Preventionist will identify and pursue additional Infection Prevention opportunities to meet Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) strategic goals and objectives. The position is accountable for ongoing Infection Prevention practices for designated facilities, executing the components of the Infection Prevention Specialty and may require travel.
Two positions are being hired. One for Minocqua and one for Rice Lake (filled).
The position for Minocqua will travel to Park Falls and outlying clinical travel.
Filled - The position for Rice Lake will travel to Ladysmith and outlying clinical travel.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, microbiology, public health or related field.
Preferred/Optional: None
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Power Point.
Two years experience in a healthcare setting.
o Additional education (Masters of Public Health in an Infection Prevention Related field) may be substituted in lieu of experience.
Preferred/Optional: One year experience working in infection prevention practice.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position
Minimum Required: Infection Control certification (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology to be obtained within three years’ of hire. Applicable State Nurse license as applicable.
Preferred/Optional: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology upon hire.
