Job Description:
L3Harris Public Safety & Professional Communications has an availability for an Field Technician to join our team in the Greater Toronto area - This position will be the primary field technician for City of Brantford, London, Greater Sudbury, Peterborough and RM of Durham ON customers, including 700-800MHz radio, servers, routers, firewalls, microwave, and dispatch console, reporting to the Mississauga Service Center and Canadian headquarters office.
We are seeking a highly developed support individual contributor with a P25 Radio technician skillset with strong network and server experience who can work independently and take initiative. This role requires the ability to mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance, and recommend solutions for complex issues. The ideal candidate will utilize their knowledge and judgment to perform tasks autonomously and resolve challenges efficiently.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing radio communication systems, networks, and servers while ensuring operational goals are met
Provide fault diagnosis, repair, restoration, technical support and optimization of complex communication systems infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture (analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure)
Broad understanding of technical installation processes, repair, configuration and preventative maintenance of telecommunications equipment and network infrastructure
Knowledge of key quality service indicators on microwave and transmission equipment, optical fiber, TCP/IP
Experience in test and troubleshooting RF TX & RX modules, including testing and RF performance, validation and testing of new and RMA units
Use and understanding of electronic test equipment used for troubleshooting, diagnostics and preventative maintenance of LMR radio systems; communications analyzers (service monitors) spectrum analyzers, volt meters, T1 testers
Travel within service region >75%, Travel outside of service region 25-50%
On-Call (after hours/weekend/holiday)
Valid Canadian Drivers’ License
Qualifications:
Active municipal and National Police Service(s) clearances
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
Communicate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and other departments; explaining and interpreting technical information to achieve solutions and agreements

OS Imaging and Deployment: SCCM 2007/2012, MDT, WDS, USMT, Ghost, Acronis
