Robert Half Attorney/Lawyer in Missouri City, Texas

Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Attorney/Lawyer based in Missouri City, Texas. This role is crucial within our legal division, where you will be tasked with providing competent legal advice to various departments and personnel, drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and maintaining knowledge of new laws and changes in existing laws.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the mission, vision, and goals of the legal division through service, professionalism, integrity, respect, innovation, and teamwork.

• Provide guidance on Texas Public Information Act requests and prepare necessary briefs.

• Attend various board meetings as assigned and participate actively.

• Recommend, draft, and implement policy changes as required.

• Conduct thorough legal research in various areas of municipal law, including budget and fiscal management, constitutional law, and economic development.

• Draft, review, and provide advice on contracts, ordinances, resolutions, policies, procedures, and similar documents.

• Assist in the coordination and preparation of items for consideration by various boards, commissions, and the City Council.

• Perform prosecutor's duties such as performing arraignments, bench trials, jury trials, drafting and reviewing complaints and motions, and interviewing complainants and witnesses.

• Confer with police, detectives, the District Attorney, and others as necessary.

• Stay updated on new laws and changes in existing laws, analyze legal information to form a basis for opinion, and verify the accuracy and authenticity of research.

• Handle legal work in a variety of areas of municipal law, including labor and employment, land use, and legislative consulting.

• Be prepared for 24-hour recall to advise City Council and staff during natural disasters.

• Utilize skills in 3M, Adobe Acrobat, Case Management Software, Conveyancer, Document Management, Briefing, Civil Litigation, Claim Administration, Complaint Handling, and Consumer Electronics. Requirements • Possession of a valid license to practice law in relevant jurisdiction

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a law firm or corporate legal department

• Proven experience in civil litigation and claim administration

• Expertise in case management software and document management

• Solid experience in consumer electronics law

• Proficiency in using 3M and Adobe Acrobat

• Familiarity with Conveyancer software

• Exceptional briefing and complaint handling skills

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• High level of professional ethics and integrity

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent problem-solving, research, and analytical skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines

• Strong understanding of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations.
