Thompson Engineering CEI Level II or Senior Inspector in United States
Thompson Engineering is looking for a CEI Level II or Sr. Inspector in the Mobile/Baldwin County area. Employees in this classification follow standard procedures in documenting construction projects and inspecting job activities to verify they are in compliance with project plans and specifications. The inspector will be responsible for completing a daily report documenting the labor and equipment used by the contractor to include a description of the work performed and any pertinent conversations with the contractor. The inspector will assist with office work such as plotting cross-sections and computing earthwork quantities. The inspector will report directly to the Senior Inspector and/or the Project Manager. DUTIESEssential Functions of the Position1. Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications2. Inspect workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards3. Maintains required reports of construction inspection activities4. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans5. Inspects and test materials incorporated into the project.6. Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship7. Drives company vehicle safely to and from worksites.8. Conduct all work activities in compliance with Thompson Holdings, Inc. Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, safety policies & procedures, safety execution plans and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses.9. Attend and pro-actively participate in monthly safety meetings, project toolbox safety meetings and safety moments.10. Ensures on time and regular attendanceOther Responsibilities1. Other duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Requirements1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Four year degree in Civil Engineering preferred. 2. Five (5) plus years experience in construction inspection, or a combination of experience and education in a related field of study.3. ALDOT Bridge construction experience required.4. Ability to be certified in Alabama for Concrete, Roadway Technician, Earthworks, QCI, and MUTCD..5. ACI Certification preferred.6. Intermediate math and geometry skills in order to calculate areas, volume, etc.7. Valid Driver's License.8. Computer skills that include Word, Excel, and Outlook.Physical Requirements1. Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time2. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs3. Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day4. Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder5. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing6. Ability to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites
