Mobridge Regional Hospital Dietary Department Director in Mobridge, South Dakota

Mobridge Regional Hospital is a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the Nation for six of the past seven years with 2023 actually being named in the Top 20!! And we arelooking for a dynamic individual to manage our Dietary Department. We will be moving our Food Service area into a brand-new, state-of-the-art kitchen, which will allow a whole new perspective on what we can offer. The person selected for this position should have a vision for the future and be able to look at all the wonderful things that we currently do and have the ability to take those processes to a whole new level of taste and service.

The full time Dietary Manager will oversee and work in the hospital Dietary Department. The position is responsible for the daily operations of food service department, insuring thatthe procedures set in place are following federal and state regulations. Providing positive leadership and guidance to ensure that foodquality, safety standards, and client expectations are exceptional. The Dietary Director will report directly to the CEO of the Hospital and will participate in all leadership activities. The ability to motivate staff and bring excitement to the hub of our facility is exactly who and what we are looking for.

Operations Management

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, evaluate and when necessary discipline employees
  • Develop job descriptions and job duties for all levels of food-service personnel.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate staffing to cover each shift.
  • Create and monitor budgets for a cost-effective departmental budget
  • Create and manage revenue generating services.
  • Specify standards and procedures for preparing and serving food.
  • Work closely with a Registered Dietitianto design new menus, meetingspecial dietary needs of patients, residents, staff and visitors.
  • Menu planning includes responding to client preferences, substitution lists, therapeutic diets, and industry trends.
  • Inspect meals and assure that standards for appearance, paletability, temperature and serving times are met.
  • Assure safe food preparation, receiving, storage, and service.
  • Protect food in all phases of preparation, holding, service, cooking, and transportation using HCACCP Guidelines
  • Prepare and monitor cleaning schedules, proper sanitation and safety practices.
  • Process new dietary orders and changes; keep accurate records of any and all changes
  • Review plan of care related to nutritional status; document concerns that can resolved, improved or addressed to improve client's nutritional status.

Skills:

  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Mathematical and numerical skills as well as mechanical aptitude helpful.
  • Effective written and oral communication sills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Current awareness of legislation and regulations influencing the practice of Standards of Care Education Requirements.

Education Experience:

  • Prefer two years of experience in foodservice management.
  • Prior experience in healthcare foodservice preferred.
  • Completion of Dietary Manager's Program preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager Exam completion or willing to obtain as soon as possible.
  • Completion of Serve Safe Certification, or willing to obtain as soon as possible.

Work Requirements

  • Able to fill in as needed in the other dietary department positions.
  • Able to lift and carry some heavy objects.
  • Able to withstand extreme temperatures both hot and cold for short amounts of time.
  • May need to work on weekends and holidays at times.
