General Summary
A Junior Staff Accountant's duties include posting journal entries, updating financial statements, maintaining accounts receivable, posting payments, and preparing financial reports. A junior accountant is supervised by and provides support to the Finance Controller. Maintains a great working relationship with Barnes customers and helps with assigned office tasks.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)
Perform assigned duties within the Accounts Receivable sectors- including processing invoices, maintaining customer relations, and keeping financial records
Manage all accounts receivable emails, sales invoices, and credit memos, ensuring customers are billed correctly.
Post daily customer payments to customer accounts
Posting of Assets and disposing of Assets
Monthly journal entries and tracking of accruals and correcting entries
Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts as assigned
Prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements
Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, petty cash, and prepaid expenses.
Assist Controller with miscellaneous reports and assignments
Assist in month end reports and filings for Barnes
Assist in gathering and providing information and documents to auditors
Reconcile receivable bank accounts
Maintain, record, and reconcile intercompany receivable accounts
Assess federal excise tax and file quarterly federal excise tax reports/payments
General office duties, such as answering phones, handling mail, vending machines, maintenance of office equipment, assist with employee order program, manage multiple email accounts, etc.
Prepare and remit monthly and quarterly corporate reports, as necessary

Educational, Skills, and Experience

Associate degree in accounting and 2+ years of accounting experience; or, 4+ years of accounting experience
Office related experience is a benefit for this position, but not necessary
Microsoft General Dynamics or similar ERP experience preferred, but not necessary
Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Must be a team player
Must be detail oriented
Ability to speak, read and write in the English language enough to perform the following:
