MRC Global Manual Machinist in MONESSEN, Pennsylvania

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide.

Job Purpose

Responsible for manually operating machines (lathes, mills, vtl, hbm, grinders) and producing complex production and prototype parts to high tolerance design specifications in an accurate and timely manner. 

Responsibilities

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Must be able to operate a Manual VTL and Manual HBM machines 

  • Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety. 

  • Must be able to read and understand outside and inside micrometers, Vernier calipers, Vernier height and depth gauges. 

  • Studies blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as best method and sequence of operations needed to fabricate parts. 

  • Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work. 

  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. 

  • Lays out, measures and marks metal stock in order to display placement of cuts. 

  • Align/secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines. 

  • Independently sets up and operates the following manual machine tools Engine lathe, vertical milling machine, Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Boring Mill & Keyseater. 

  • Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. 

  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs. 

  • Fabricates and manufactures various parts within .002 tolerance. 

  • Measures, examines and tests completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications. 

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned; 

  • Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others; report workplace hazards, injuries, or illness immediately. 

Qualifications

Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered. 

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a manual machinist required valve experience a plus. 

  • Must have strong analytical and communication skills. 

  • Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and troubleshoot issues. 

  • Basic computer skills required. 

Additional Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status; 

  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries; 

  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
