ProMedica Health System Nutrition Services Assistant - Nutrition Services - Monroe Hospital - Full Time in Monroe, Michigan

Position Summary:
Under close supervision and/or following defined procedures and instructions, performs a variety of non-complex functions to assure efficient, quality service in the preparation and serving of food for patients and cafeteria patrons. Typical duties may include one or more of the following: cafeteria, salad preparation, tray line, dish room, pot and pan washing, cleaning and stock, and cashier. Specific duties may vary depending upon area assigned. Accountabilities:
Accurately assembles patient food trays and serves in cafeteria according to menu. Follows patient service protocol consistently providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Separates clean dishes and silverware from soiled dishes and silverware. Demonstrates a concern for cleanliness of self, equipment, and work area by washing pots/pans, emptying trash, practicing infection control (hand washing, hair covering) for the protection of patients and self. Checks work to assure that meals and snacks are being prepared according to prescribed menus and instructions (correct weight, ingredients, count, etc.). Consults with Nutrition Service Director on matters of uncertainty, i.e., portions, prices, diet allowances. Promptly reports any food shortages or malfunctioning equipment. Completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without interference in the quality of work. Handles cafeteria line quickly demonstrating good interpersonal skills and representing the department in a positive manner, handles tray line and dish room duties efficiently. Responds to changes in workload schedule as necessary; continually uses time in a productive manner; performs dish room duties efficiently; stocks shelves, cleans, organizes, helps others as needed. Performs duties in a responsible and safe manner, i.e., cashier balancing monies, delivering trays to correct floor/patient, running dish machine, etc. Demonstrates initiative. Requires attention to detail, ability to follow written and verbal directions and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Up to one (1) week on-the-job training in the hospital required to become familiar with department and/or hospital policies and procedures.
