We are looking for a dynamic High Energy and High Impact Operations Leader to join our team at our Manufacturing Operations Headquarters located in Monroe, MI.  This is an exciting role that provides a career path of upward mobility to expand from department level to plant level and beyond. *Job Summary: *This position will report to the Vice-President of Operations and be a member of the Monroe Production Leadership Team.  The Operations Leader is responsible for leading and managing the mill operations, continuously improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale. This includes supporting day-to-day operations, development of team members, and continuous improvement. The Operations Leader must provide strong leadership to drive world class performance and a highly engaged culture.

Key Responsibilities: (Other duties as assigned)

  • This position hosts direct leadership responsibilities for 30+ individual contributors, first-level Leaders and temporary employees.
  • Provide leadership in day-to-day activities and to individual contributors.
  • Provide a safe and best-in class organized work environment within the manufacturing facility while supporting 5S overall  
  • Ensure the team is properly trained and scheduled to meet production levels in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Measure, monitor, and drive improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale
  • Convey clearly defined expectations of performance, efficiency and quality standards to individual contributors and management.
  • Initiate and execute coaching, development, and evaluation of performance for individual contributors by working with Human Resources and management
  • Aggressively approach recruiting and staffing with the idea of "top grading" the team and new hires
  • Guarantee machinery is properly maintained and continuously improve availability
  • Manage inventory to verify material is rotated and participates in cycle counts, ensuring accuracy
  • Monitor output, cut/yields, and scrap to efficiently utilize resources with active leadership to drive improvement
  • Participate and lead meetings related to daily activities, safety, and department progression/status.

Minimum Experience and Education Requirements:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • 3 years of production / operations management experience overseeing safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale within a manufacturing plant. Our selected candidate will have the ability to lead, manage and develop a high performing team
  • Continuous Improvement and Project Management experience
  • Willingness to take a hands-on approach to leadership.  To us this means working with the team and aligning with our Habit #5:  People Make It Happen
  • Capital Project experience

Preferred Experience:

BS in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or similar

Lean / World-Class man
