ATI is currently seeking a Lab Technician (6) for Metallography Evaluation in our Monroe, NC facility. This position is a crucial step as the technician will be evaluating samples throughout the day by microscope to meet industry standards, making sure all materials are compliant before delivery to the customer.
As a lab technician, you will be evaluating metallographic samples under a microscope against industry standards and company specifications, entering results into the computer, and releasing final results for certification. A successful lab technician should show attention to detail, be self-motivated, be quality-oriented, have good communication skills, and work well within a team.
This is a night shift position from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on a 2-2-3 schedule. The training schedule for this role is subject to change and may include both day and night sessions.
Additional Responsibilities:
Schedule and prioritize samples
Troubleshoot problems
Engage in activities that promote growth in knowledge necessary to perform essential tasks
Assist in routine Laboratory operations and/or perform other work as directed
Maintain work areas in a clean orderly condition

METALLOGRAPHY
METALLOGRAPHY PREPARATION (INCLUDING MOUNTING, POLISHING, AND ETCHING SAMPLES); USE LABORATORY MICROSCOPE TO EVALUATE GRAIN STRUCTURE AS TO SIZE, UNIFORMITY, INCLUSIONS AND OTHER SPECIFIED FACTORS; HARDNESS; MICRO AND MACRO PHOTOGRAPHS; AUTOMATED IMAGE ANALYSIS.
SAMPLE SAWING & MACHINING
OPERATE ABRASIVE SAWS TO CUT A VARIETY OF TEST SAMPLES ACCORDING TO DRAWINGS AND STANDARD PLANS; SET-UP AND OPERATE LATHE, CYLINDRICAL AND SURFACE GRINDERS, MILLING MACHINE, BROADER, DRILL PRESS AND OTHER MACHINE TOOLS
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience
Previous experience in quality assurance is a plus
Skills:
Basic math skills
Basic computer skills
Ability to read and follow written procedures
Required to pass In-dept vision screening
