JobSummary: This role will be a key member of the logistics team. This position’s main role is to assist the Director and Managers in logistics department in collecting, evaluating, and analyzing multiple sources/types of operational and financial data. Will review processes, procedures, and internal/external hand-offs between partners to identify and recommend meaningful improvements for B&N teams. This role will provide recommendations that could impact all logistics services offered within B&N organization, will respond to inquiries from logistics, distribution, and finance teams related to service issues, invoices, and expected delivery dates. This role will work across all departments within distribution and logistics.

WhatYouDo:

• Work with business leaders and other team members to identify data-driven opportunities for improvement.

• Creates, builds, maintains, and queries databases of logistics information to track KPIs to identify logistics trends.

• Reviews weekly and monthly logistics metrics and vendor performance and works with freight audit and payment vendors to ensure validity, accuracy, and a fair representation of any issues that may affect logistics reporting.

• Collects, interprets, and analyzes various types of logistics data including freight expenses, availability of product, reliability of transport and delivery, and other data related to product logistics, sourcing, and distribution.

• Uses analytic methods and tools to understand, predict, and control logistics operations and processes.

• Reviews logistics processes and procedures; identifies, recommends, and implements improvements to maximize delivery efficiency while minimizing costs and order cycle time for ship-to-deliver activity.

• Documents and maintains process workflow documents, SOPs, flowcharts, and periodic logistics reports.

• Works with large data sets to perform analysis using MS Access, MS Excel, or SQL. Understands the cost and speed of different modes of transportation, lanes, and vendors.

• Monitors warehouse facilities to evaluate inventory transactions such as receiving, storage, shipping, and inventory integrity, especially as they relate to the inbound and outbound shipments.

• Tracks product flow from origin to delivery via web-based logistics systems and other appropriate methods of monitoring inventory and shipment vehicles.

• Creates presentations and reports using effective methods of visualization.

• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Knowledge&Experience:

• Ability to analyze, summarize large amounts of data and identify trends to optimize logistics processes and find opportunities to improve profitability or speed to internal and external customers.

• 5-7 years of experience in MS Excel and MS Access, and intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL

• Knowledge of domestic transportation modes, preferably Domestic LTL and TL shipping in TMS (Transportation Management System) environment. User experience in TMS required, and administrative knowledge preferred.

• Carrier Management experience preferred, especially in LTL and TL ship modes.

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role in operations, supply chain, or transportation position

• Familiarity with supply chain processes (i.e., inventory planning, warehouse management, compliance, etc.)

• Project management skills: create/maintain project logs, establish critical path, and maintain documents.

• Strong organization, time-management, prioritization, multi-tasking, independent-decision making, problem-solving, interpersonal, analytical, etc. skills.

• Works well against deadlines, self-starter, innovative, team-oriented, customer-focused, etc.

• Intermediate level proficiency in other MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Bachelor’s degree with focus in Business/Supply Chain/Logistics, or equivalent logistics/transportation experience

• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with employees in different levels of the organization (Home Office, DC Office, and Warehouse employees)

• Able to think outside the box, troubleshooting skills.

• Flexible regarding work schedule when needed.
