JobSummary: The 2nd shift Operations Manager will manage and control the fulfillment center and all of the fulfillment functions including product receiving and storage, order picking, order packing, product shipping, personnel, and equipment necessary to deliver customer orders in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Operations Manager will also implement operation strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of Distribution Center’s goals and may manage one or more departments in the area of operations and offer support to provide outstanding customer service. All functions will be executed in compliance with local and federal laws, and company policies and directives to ensure consistency over assigned areas of responsibility across all shifts and work schedules

WhatYouDo:

• Provides leadership and support to the Operations Team in their performance and operational responsibilities including Supervisors, Lead Clerks, Coordinators, and all other Department Booksellers.

• Coordinates and plans best practices for cost control of all activities within the department, which will include efficiencies to determine CPU and maintaining production, workforce headcount and allocations while minimizing overtime.

• Maximize work performance through careful planning of production and set goals to achieve business objectives.

• Determines headcount requirements by department to ensure fulfillment cycle time requirements are achieved.

• Maintains acceptable levels of coverage, including self-participation in any necessary weekend or shift rotations or coverage for other managers.

• Interviews, selects, and develops top talent through training, coaching and development.

• Build your team through engagement, motivation, and coaching; assess performance and address any issue proactively and timely.

• Maintains a safe, clean, and efficient work environment while protecting all company assets.

• Train and monitor supervisor and hourly staff, promoting safety guidelines while reinforcing safety standards to promote a safe work environment.

• Ensure all facility equipment and tools are in working order.

• Identifies and implements operational improvements that contribute to enhanced safety, order processing, fulfillment cycle time and cost.

• Demonstrates excellent time management skills through effective communication, facilitation, and resolution skills.

• Effectively communicates to all levels of management the daily production needs and end of day results.

• Performance management of direct reports including completion of annual performance review process.

• Deliver honest and constructive feedback, holding team members accountable when necessary.

Knowledge&Experience:

• 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proven experience managing others is required.

• Excellent oral & written communication skill with the ability to communicate to all levels of employees and management in a calm and effective manner.

• Diversified background with strong technical, business, and managerial skills.

• Experience which includes coaching, motivating, and team building.

• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems a plus.

• Knowledge of conveyor systems, storage & retrieval systems.

• Knowledge of inventory management and control.
