National Institutes of Health Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist in Montgomery County, Maryland
Summary Do you have experience supervising the operation, maintenance, repair and renovation of facilities and utility systems, building systems and equipment? You will serve as a Deputy Team Chief in support of the management of NIH research, medical, and administrative facilities. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist, you will: Work with senior leadership in planning and evaluating the maintenance, repair, and operations of the physical facilities and building systems Serve as a technical expert and furnish technical suggestions and advice on equipment used by services located in the building(s) Provide technical assistance concerning maintenance management techniques, equipment replacement, contract maintenance services and cost effectiveness of various maintenance practices and work methods. Conduct periodic inspections assuring all functions are performed, reviewing all features of maintenance functions and responsibilities and report results. Make decisions on work problems presented by the supervisors and contractors. Oversee the development of official training plans and implementation of a technical training program to ensure employees are prepared to perform their duties as technology changes and various new equipment and systems are installed and operated. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist GS-1640-12 position, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing a preventive maintenance program for building systems; reviewing plans, standards and requirements for maintenance and construction activities; performing strategic planning to include budget development, procurement of supplies, materials, and services; overseeing operations for conformance with project plans. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement. This position requires weekend hours, night shifts, regular or rotational shifts, and holiday hours. This position has on-call or call-back requirements. A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required upon selection/placement. At the supervisor's discretion, this position may offer work schedule flexibilities: Alternate Work Schedules. If accessing our BSL Lab facilities you may work in hazardous environments or around hazardous substances.
