Oracle Principal Product Manager/Strategy- Oracle Unifier in Montpelier, Vermont

Job Description

We are looking for an energetic and talented individual to be a pivotal member of the Unifier Product Management team.

The Principal Product Manager is a member of a delivery team that works closely with the Portfolio Lead to help deliver on the goals and roadmap of their stream. In many ways, they act as the customer proxy in the delivery team. They work with the Portfolio Lead, UX team and development teams interpreting the roadmap through the eyes of the customer to help solve customer problems in the most effective way. The Principal Product Manager will work closely with one or more scrum teams, but they will also spend time with customers to develop and maintain connection with customer issues.

The Principal Product Manager will seek input from various stakeholders, help the Portfolio Lead balance the roadmap of conflicting priorities and help communicate the path forward.

You will be waking up every day thinking about how you will meet or exceed the objectives for commercial success and customer value of your product stream.

The focus of the Principal Product Manager is not simply delivering “features” but instead understanding problems, collaboratively solving problems, and delivering capabilities that customers love and use. Like the Portfolio Lead, you will be measured on key KPIs including not just financial & ROI, but also adoption and satisfaction metrics for your solutions. In other words, do customer use the solution and do they like it.

You will drive for consistency, a culture of delivery and customer satisfaction, with 5 key measures:

  1. Adoption “Are people using it?”

  2. Customer Satisfaction “Do they like it?”

  3. Financial “Are they buying it?”

  4. ROI “Are we making money?”

  5. Employee satisfaction “Are we aligned?”

Key Responsibilities

This is a position that requires a combination of strong engagement and communication skills, pragmatic thinking, tactical execution and the ability to balance an ever challenging mix of priorities and stakeholder views. You should be experienced in participating in the creation of business plans, go to market plans and launch plans for a global business. You will be working directly with your Portfolio Lead, Product Experience & Product Development to deliver product offerings that grow the business.

In this position, you will collaborate with sales, pre-sales, product marketing, corporate marketing, and customer support to define the best path forward for your products. You will engage with product development and product experience to ensure products are delivered to delight customers. You will also act as a main representative for your stream internally and externally. Engaging with internal teams, customers, and partners will be common.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Understand the customer and their needs and is their advocate

  • Understand the market, customers and product management strategy and convey these contexts to the team.

  • Work with your Portfolio Lead for the creation, management and prioritisation of a product backlog for your teams, and for assessing whether what the team produces is appropriate to release to market

  • Work hand-in-hand with product development, and product experience teams to ensure alignment of objectives, timely delivery and positive customer outcomes

  • Work with the Product Experience team to ensure that the end-to-end user experience is optimized, leading to maximum user engagement, driving referrals and retention.

  • Communicate with and get buy in from key stakeholders on product strategy, including external (our customers) and internal. Continue to make development, marketing, support and importantly sales and pre-sales feel good about your stream’s offerings and direction.

  • Make decisions based on specific and deep market and metrics analysis.

  • Work with the Portfolio Lead to measure and report on the success of your solutions, particularly around adoption and satisfaction.

  • Ensure that what we build adds up to meaningful experiences for our customers

  • Work with the team and stakeholders to understand team capacity and realistic workloads

  • Plan ahead over 3-5 sprints and monitor progress during sprints. Resolve with stakeholder input any ambiguities and conflicts with other existing or new functionality.

  • Ensure customer facing departments understand the changes we make to our products

  • Gather feedback to improve our solutions

  • Be subject matter experts in our products

  • Proactively contribute to ongoing process improvement and ensure high quality outcomes for our customers

  • Review and contribute to user documentation as a part of our release to market processes

  • Pro-active in helping others through building capability and supporting peers.

The Principal Product Manager will be a flexible, results-oriented, and experienced product management professional. This role combines a great instinct for developing compelling products with a strong focus on users; a technical aptitude to work with a world class development team; and the business sense to drive product goals and strategies.

Leadership

  • Ensure effective integration and co-ordination between the Product Strategy, Product Experience and Product Development.

  • Ensure implementation of effective team management for all teams (regular meetings, work flow allocation, prioritization)

Commercial

  • Assist the Portfolio Lead with:

  • Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.

  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and other industry stakeholders

  • Drive a solution set across development team (primarily Development/Engineering and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract and positioning.

  • Analyze potential partner relationships for the product.

  • Set and deliver commercial targets for the product

General

  • Understand the competitors’ products in terms of positioning, features and benefits, and account acquisition strategies

  • Build an excellent knowledge of the CEGBU’s products, mapping how the new product set interfaces to the existing product set.

Candidate Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Unifier experience strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years product management, development or technical consulting experience required.

  • Some SaaS or network-based business expertise

  • Experience making sophisticated product decisions in a competitive market and getting it right!

  • Must always be thinking about the customer. Must be maniacal about focusing on product issues and initiatives that will create engaged and happy users (which ultimately generate revenue).

  • Have a strong business sense and ability to grasp customer’s needs and expectations. Given the broad-based product responsibilities this individual will assume, strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple parallel initiatives and stakeholders will be critical.

  • Demonstrated ability to gather user requirements and convert them into a winning product vision.

  • Significant people and organizational management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Agile/SAFe Development

  • Experience working in a fast-growing business

  • Experience with organizations in the never-ending process of transitioning to Agile development methodologies.

US: Hiring Range: from $87,600 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
