DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this supervisory role, you will oversee and train a group of professional county social service workers, as well as carry your own caseload. In addition to the professional staff, you will also supervise paraprofessional human service workers and county social services aide staff. There are several regulations, statutes, and processes we must follow as we oversee these cases, and you will exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in achieving objectives. You will provide counseling services to children, youth, and families; motivate clients to develop and use their own potential to adequately resolving their social, health, emotional, and economic problems; and review and evaluate the work of staff performing similar duties. Client records are extremely important, so you can expect to review and monitor records to ensure services are provided in compliance with applicable regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement. . Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Susquehanna County. If no eligible candidates who live within Susquehanna County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
