Salary Range: $47.00 - $52.00 Hourly
Construction Inspector - Rail and Transit
Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in Northern New Jersey to join the Transit Construction Management Department as a Construction Inspector. This position will be performing on-site construction inspection services for a railroad/transit tunnel rehabilitation project in North New Jersey.
Responsibilities
Monitor the contractor's work activities for conformance with contract documents including approved shop drawings.
Responsible for daily observation of geotechnical, structural, and site civil construction activities. record keeping, problem detection, issue resolution and quality control services.
Prepare inspector daily reports (IDR).
Perform the quality control measures required and construction inspection in a field office as a representative for the railroad.
Take quantity measurements and computations for pay reports.
Track material deliveries, handling, and storage, and review materials for conformance with contract documents and quality.
Update record drawings thru the life of the project.
Observe work operations for compliance with applicable safety regulations.
Proactively communicate with the contractor and the client to progress the project in a timely manner to meet the project goals.
Monitor contractor performance to obtain quality product.
Maintain continual communication with the contractor's field personnel.
Maintain continuing liaison with the Resident Engineer, or client for updating field activities.
Maintain certifications required for industry expertise.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Minimum of four years of experience in construction supervision / inspection
Transit, rail, and / or infrastructure construction experience.
NJ Transit, Amtrak, SEPTA, and other agency safety training as needed.
comprehensive understanding of safety practices on an operating railroad
Have proper certifications or is immediately capable of acquiring the necessary safety certifications, including but not limited to OSHA 10 hour and NJ
OSHA 10 hr. Training
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field is desired.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Valid driver's license
