Atlantic Health System Cost Accounting Analyst in Morristown, New Jersey
Primary scope includes management of cost accounting allocations and the cost accounting mapping process for integration into the Decision Support System at Atlantic Health System. A demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and hospital costing methodologies is imperative to this role. An ability to communicate the costing process, allocations, and lead conversations with hospital finance teams effectively are skill sets critical to the position.
Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting Analyst responsibilities include:
Performance and optimization of cost accounting mapping and its integration with the Decision Support System
Completion of the monthly reconciliation and integration of cost into the AHS Decision Support System
Complete regular review and revision where appropriate of the departmental cost calculation methods such as overhead mapping allocations and revenue redirections with the site CFOs to assure accurate and consistent filing.
Establishment of the quarterly Service Line Profit/(Loss), Financial Indicators and Unit Cost Reports.
Assist with quarterly scorecard reports.
Assisting site CFOs with special projects including contribution margin assessments, and opportunity analyses
Excellent communication, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in health or business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Healthcare Informatics or Computer Science or similar subject
Requirements:
Five years of relevant experience or experience that may include hospital finance, Medicare cost reporting, hospital decision support.
Experience utilizing cost accounting systems, GL accounts, and extensive knowledge of the healthcare reimbursement landscape to develop financial insights.
Extensive experience in Excel (building financial models, pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, VBA)
Experience working with data visualization tools and reporting is a plus.
Familiarity with the HPM system is a strong advantage.
