As a member of the Enterprise Data Support & Operations team, the position will provide technical support and run the engine tasks for Middleware jobs, and Business Intelligence reports.
Administers, maintains, and supports the company’s IT infrastructure platforms ensuring system availability, stability, security and ability to grow. Administers infrastructure platforms of existing and emerging technologies for compatibility and business alignment within PPD. May be responsible for administration of Data Centers, Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Messaging, Global Operations
Management, Citrix, and/or Cloud platforms.
Essential Functions and Other Job Information:
Administers and maintains data center infrastructure platforms to include
ongoing enhancements, modifications and software upgrades, following all
relevant SOP’s, WPD’s and internal processes.
Performs Windows Server administration to include install, upgrades,
configuration, tuning and monitoring.
Cross-trains new and existing employees.
Provides system engineering consulting and application support to other IT
groups and projects.
Responsible for system utilization reporting, system optimization, server and
network installation and configuration as well as problem resolution.
Provides tier 2 level troubleshooting and support for all PPD infrastructure
platforms globally.
Verifies stability, interoperability, security or scalability of system architecture;
defines server hardware and software standards and procedures.
Manages and maintains system administration tools to include asset inventory,
remote access, software license management, server diagnostics and
virtualization technology.
Provides advanced system support for troubleshooting and maintenance of
servers and storage.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of two or more technology services (Server – Windows/Linux; Data Centers; Storage; Virtualization; Messaging; Global Operations Management; Citrix; and Cloud platforms)
Unix/Linux (preferably RHEL), Korn/Bash Shell Scripting, SSH/SFTP, sFTP, HTTPS, Oracle, SQL, Windows and Citrix etc.
Exposure and experience in AWS is advantage.
Hands on experience with UNIX based systems, commands and utilities
Installation and Upgrade experience.
Hands on experience supporting client/server applications
Proactive problem management skills with strong troubleshooting and incident management background
Knowledge of Problem solving and Change Management processes and tools
Test scope creation, test script execution, defect tracking
Triage, test, repair and root cause analysis for L3 incidents in the environment
Desire to learn and support Vendor products
Strong understanding of SDLC and risk averse.
Should be a team player. Flexible to weekend production support work.
Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues on Windows, Linux, and storage platforms
Strong customer service skills
Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced knowledge of three or more technology services (Server – Windows/Linux; Data Centers; Storage; Virtualization; Messaging; Global Operations Management; Citrix; and Cloud platforms)
Ability to cross-train new and existing employees
Ability to provide advanced trouble-shooting and maintenance of server
