Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Autonomy Engineering Specialist at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Road, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Job Duties: Direct and ensure the proper concept, design, and development of Caterpillar Autonomous Infrastructure Software ("AIS"), AIS based application software, and AIS based sensor driver software. Develop and manage the project to the plan. Gather and understand the autonomous application requirements and translate them into technical requirements. Design and develop product components. Organize and manage testing of the product. Ensure product deficiencies are addressed. Drive product improvements in the following areas: performance, robustness, usability, field deployment, and collection of diagnostics information. Ensure organization's processes and procedures are followed. Troubleshoot system malfunctions to restore normal function. Support the autonomous application teams in software and systems troubleshooting. Provide Caterpillar AIS subject matter expert support. Telecommuting: 2 days/week. Travel: up to 10% domestic & international to Caterpillar facilities and client sites

Requirements : This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 8 Years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer or related occupation. In the alternative the employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 5 Years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have five (5) years of employment experience with: (1) Multithreading and shared resources; (2) Compiler and linker operation and configuration; (3) Software configuration management; (4) Data link protocols (e.g. CAN, J1939, Ethernet); (5) Linux based application software development; (6) Embedded Linux middleware development (e.g. ROS); (7) Modern C++ (i.e., C++ 11 and above); (8) Embedded software development in C++: writing requirements, analysis, design, development, debugging, code reviews, writing test plans, and testing; (9) C++ Standard Template Library; and (10) Embedded software development in C: analysis, design, development, implementation, and testing.
