The Delfield Company is now hiring a Manufacturing Engineer II (Onsite) at its facility in Mount Pleasant, MI.

Position Summary:

Under moderate supervision, provides day to day support to production on Manufacturing Engineering related matters to ensure availability for assembly processes & equipment to collaborate on Production's metrics & goal achievement, meeting the applicable Safety, Quality, Health & Environmental and Human Resources policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Field of Study in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical.
  • Experience obtaining goods and/or services.
  • 1-3 Years experience.
  • 2-4 Years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • 5 years experience in Lieu of Degree.

Major Accountability:

  • Documentation of assembly processes, work instructions, procedures, and plant layouts
  • Ensures assembly times are monitored and documented, and related issues tracked, to provide input to operations staff on needed improvements.
  • Maintain MBOM, Product Routings, and Standards
  • Coordinate Engineering Change process between Design Engineering and Manufacturing for product design issues / improvements
  • Drive Continuous Improvement of processes and assembly methods by using Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Product Routings, Plant Layouts, and Work Instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnel.
  • Perform role on Safety Incident Investigation Teams, as needed. Conduct safety inspections and tasks as required. Create Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Drives continuous improvement and lean initiatives with a focus on workflow, layout, single point scheduling, Kaizen events, standardized work, and 5S
  • Leads projects to simplify processes and product designs (ie. fixturing, design changes, and capital equipment justifications).
  • Creates and maintains work standards, product routings and Operation Method Sheets
  • Supports the New Product Development and Engineering Change processes through process documentation, routing maintenance, pilot runs, and employee training
  • Recommends product design improvements to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly.
  • Performs workflow balancing and time studies
  • Works as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing to ensure a smooth implementation of deviations and Engineering Change Notices.
  • Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization
  • Consistently operate in a manner that aligns to the Company Core Values.
