Position Title: Mortgage Underwriter
Reports To: Underwriting Supervisor
General Purpose:
Quality Control of Mortgage Processing.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews mortgage loan applications in process with supporting documentation to determine if they meet the required guidelines for approval on both internal and secondary market requests.
- Reviews appraisals to insure quality of collateral.
- Assist in training processing staff as needed on products and procedures.
- Take on additional duties and extended work hours as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in mortgages required
- Knowledgeable with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the mortgage field including the Secondary Market is preferred
Skills
- Excellent computer skills -- especially Encompass (LOS), Silverlake and Synergy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Consistent display of diplomacy in all communications
- Detail oriented
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Creative and innovative approach on problem solving issues
- Flexibility in meeting departmental goals
- Ability to work both as a team player and independently
- Ability to meet deadlines on a weekly basis
