The Technical Support Engineer is a position essential to our growth and continued success of the organization, and where your talents will be fully utilized and rewarded.

Position Summary

Working under supervision of the Director of Engineering, you will support tasks related to the design and manufacture, but will focus on service, repair, and commissioning of eddy current clutches, brakes, and electronic controls. These products are found in many applications where speed and or torque control is required. While similar in some ways to variable frequency drives, our products have characteristics that are advantageous in certain applications. This position is mainly focused on the electrical and controls side but has some overlap on the mechanical.

  • This position also interfaces directly with customers, sales, and manufacturing team members providing technical support and on-site service to ensure our products meet with our internal and industry standards while also meeting the needs of the customer.

  • Installation, commissioning, and/or repair service may require up to 30% of travel time, which may include international travel.

What will your day look like?

  • Electrical control design work, which includes modifying existing controller layouts to meet specialized customer needs as well as new designs and updating outdated components.

  • Mechanical eddy current drive and brake modification work, which also includes support for any design work.

  • Develop electrical / schematics drawings using AutoCAD and create bills of material to pair with customer requirements.

  • Handle component changes due to obsolescence or supply shortages.

  • Assist with finding component substitutions including identifying component vendors and/or manufacturers.

  • Provide technical support to customers and in-house staff Sales, Operations, Purchasing.

  • Perform testing and repair services along with commissioning of controls and/or mechanical equipment.

  • Program or modify controllers using Visual Basic, C, or assembly programs.

  • Provide warranty evaluation and potential customer on-site application changes to mitigate future problems.

What makes you the right fit?

  • You have a foundational knowledge of rotating mechanical equipment and electronic controls and their use in industry.

  • You are proficient in AUTOCAD Electrical or equivalent computer aided design tool as well as Microsoft Office.

  • You have the ability analyze assembly drawings and identify components required to general bills of materials.

  • You have experience with troubleshooting mechanical equipment or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire the knowledge.

  • You have the ability to program and write clean, well-documented code.

  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • You have the ability to design and/or modify electronic circuits.

  • You are dependable, resourceful, and efficient.

  • A technical or Associate degree is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
