Amergis LCSW Corrections- NECX in Mountain City, Tennessee

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to provide input in the development of the plan of care for those patients/clients requiring social work intervention. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides counseling and crisis intervention to patients/clients who have social or emotional problems in a variety of settings across the age span.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides necessary social work intervention

  • Counsels individuals and families in crisis and help with issues such as poverty, loss and illness

  • Assesses patient's psychosocial needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies interventions to meet the established patient/client goals

  • Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate team goals for each patient/client

  • Facilitates patient/client and family referrals to community agencies when appropriate

  • Provides financial counseling when necessary to achieve the treatment goals established by the multi- disciplinary team

  • May be required to respond to crisis situations, including domestic violence and child abuse

  • May be required to provide witness services and evidence in court cases

  • Visits schools to assess academic concerns

  • Works with government agencies to help clients apply for Medicare and Medicaid when appropriate

  • Arranges home visits to evaluate a patient/client health, home environment and family interaction/support

  • Assists patient/family/caregivers in planning for present and future psychosocial needs

  • Observes and reports patient progress and/or changes in patient status to physician and appropriate multi- disciplinary team members

  • Adheres to facility and Amergis policies and procedures at all times

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education required

  • Active license as an LCSW in state of practice required

  • Minimum of one year of social work experience preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

    General Comments

  • 13 week contract

  • No weekends

  • Schedule is M-F 8a-5p OR they can do Four 10’s (just need to work that out during interview)

  • Phone interview is ok BUT they want everyone to do a site tour before they will extend offer

  • Standard submittal

  • First week is a mandatory 40 hour in-person orientation

Here is some additional info direct from client:

“There is a 40-Hr TDOC orientation requirement in addition to our Centurion onboarding requirements. There is not necessarily a defense training requirement but there is training in managing the offender population. There is no longer a required physical training. I have worked in corrections for over 7 years and I honestly felt more threatened in a psychiatric hospital. Most of the patients are stable and those who are unstable are housed in an infirmary for treatment. No counselors would be expected to see patients without the presence of a security officer.

· What is the daily caseload? Most of the counseling is considered supportive counseling. There are patients who require individual therapy. Based on this, I do not see a time when you would see more than 10 patients a day unless you are conducting segregation checks. Also, scheduling is based on referrals, caseload needs, and etc. Upon training, you would only be asked to see the number that you can comfortably manage and complete documentation within your shift.

· Is there time for charting (she is currently staying up until 3am recording notes)? Notes MUST be completed prior to the end of your work shift. We still utilize paper charts.

· Is it group therapy, individual, or both depending on the patient(s)? Treatment consists of individual and group (depending on facility)
