General Motors Senior Manager Automation and Tools in Mountain View, California

Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View, CA, Austin, TX, or Warren, MI. at least 3 days a week.

About the Role

As a Sr. Manager Automation and Tools you will work with stakeholders across the Infotainment Organization as well as stakeholders across Organizations to develop a holistic strategy for automation and tools from feature development through regression. You will play a critical role in driving Quality at the feature and integration level, ensuring a single automation strategy, code standards, best practices, comprehensive toolset, and delivery of a high Quality Infotainment Product. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of highly skilled Software Quality Engineers and contractors.

Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of automation frameworks and tools for embedded systems and Android applications

  • Manage a team of engineers and developers, providing mentorship and guidance to foster professional growth

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation needs and optimize processes for increased efficiency and reliability

  • Design and execute test strategies, ensuring robust coverage of software features and functionalities

  • Oversee the integration of automation tools into the software development lifecycle, promoting best practices and continuous improvement

  • Analyze project requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions using Python and related technologies

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in automation and software testing, recommending innovative solutions

  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project goals and deadlines

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout the automation process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience as a Quality and Release leader

  • 9+ years of team leadership

  • Strong knowledge of Quality management principles, methodologies, and best practices

  • Proficiency in Python and experience with automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium)

  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems and Android application development

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)

  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development processes

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools is a plus

  • Experience with build automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines

  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex release-related issues

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple releases and priorities simultaneously

  • Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $172,900- $344,800. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • You also need to include general information about potential commissions, if applicable.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
