Google Staff Developer Relations Engineer, Android AI/ML in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects.

  • 3 years of experience in Android development including coding in Java or Kotlin.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience to attract an audience via blogging or online community building.

  • Experience in machine learning, generative AI, or similar fields.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally and externally.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects, with stakeholders, and changing priorities.

  • Proven track record of setting technical strategy for large teams and large projects.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

Our team’s mission is to empower Android developers to build innovative personalization, creativity, and productivity experiences using Google's generative AI models and solutions, both on-device and in the cloud.

We advocate for Google GenAI solutions in Android platform by inspiring an AI-driven app experience with impactful (and technical) content, lead with examples by engaging directly with first-party and third-party developers, while also representing our developer communities within Google. As a Tech Lead of the Android DevRel team, you will focus on Google AI developer features in Android (SDKs and Services).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Provide technical leadership for Google AI developer features in Android (SDKs and Services).

  • Work across Google AI teams and organizations to streamline AI offerings for Android developers, and influence robust and easy to use APIs and solutions.

  • Set and drive developer strategy of GenAI offerings in Android partnering with Product and Engineering leads.

  • Lead with example as Android AI experts who advocate for developer needs and inform the future of Android AI strategy.

  • Partner with marketing and developer ecosystem teams to build awareness and excitement on Android GenAI with technical content and campaigns.
