Pilgrim's CDL DRIVER in Mt. Pleasant, Texas
Description

Must be able to operate a Manual CMV.
Live Haul Driver: (Mt Pleasant)
Reports to the Live Haul Supervisor/Manager-Live Haul Drivers are responsible for the humane handling and transportation of live poultry from producer farm sites to the processing plant as well as the completion of related documents.
Driver will use electronic log
Pre/post inspection for truck & trailer
Scale (empty weight) proceed to the farm
Driver will use all necessary PPE
Unbind cage hooks for the crew to load birds
Secure load by binding with cage hooks
Fuel each trip. Scale loaded
Holding shed. Dolly down/unhook.
Qualifications include:
Class A CDL
Good safety record
The ability to do frequent heavy lifting with a mechanical aptitude
Must be able to bind cages with an excess of 150 pounds of torque weight on a frequent basis
Must be able to complete a DOT physical and drug & alcohol screen
At least 1 year previous verifiable experience required

DELIVERY MUST BE CORRECT / UNDERSTAND RECORDS FOR DELIVERIES
GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS WITH GROWERS, DISPATCHERS, SHOP AND OTHER STAFF
MUST BE ABLE TO FOLLOW SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS OR GUIDELINES FOR DELIVERY
SKILLS NECESSARY BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Must have good driving skills – driver will be administered a driving test
Driving record – maintained as to company safety minimum requirements for employment
At minimum one year driving experience with a tractor/trailer combination on a public roadway
Must possess knowledge of basic DOT guidelines and a basic knowledge and understanding of state and federal traffic laws as pertains to commercial driving
Driver applicant must have a working knowledge of tractor trailers or combination of
Driver applicant needs to possess driving skills that are applicable to narrow and tight conditions as well as all types of adverse weather and nighttime driving
Driver applicant must be able to pass a federal drug and alcohol test as well as DOT physical.
Driver applicant must have good communication skills, must work well with others, able to follow directions given by management, dispatchers or other drivers ( drivers are key to helping new hires
Driver applicants will be trained on electronic logs and policies set forth by company drivers will be trained on pre/post as well as invoice reading for correct loading and delivery.
Driver applicant needs to be able (after training) to work well with little or no supervision on the farms, must be able to work nights, days or a rotating shift as set forth by management.
Mechanical breakdowns occur. Should this happen shifts can and will be altered but all shifts will follow and be in guidance with DOT rules and regulations. This type of situation can happen at any time.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate, GED equivalent. Applicant needs to be advised we work with a living entity (chickens) this drives us to do the best job we can, however applicants need to understand job assignments can go from driving to other job duties as assigned by management. Driving for other departments that may include travel can also be a factor in this from time to time.
