As the Director of Worldwide Incentive Compensation Analytics, you will lead the charge in designing and advocating for customer-centric plans and strategies. Your role will be pivotal in driving sales success, influencing decisions beyond compensation, and ensuring the excellence of our sales force.

Responsibilities

People Management

Business Analytics

  • Synthesizes findings and insights from quantitative analyses and modeling related to compensation programs and plan performance.

  • Develops sales performance reports and/or data visualizations to communicate results and quantify business impact to Sales leadership. Uses sales performance reports and/or data visualizations to communicate sales compensation results across business stakeholder leadership and senior executives

  • Leverages analyses to drive appropriate actions (e.g., correction of errors, acceleration where seeing success).

  • Oversees scenario modeling and analyses of incentive compensation plan designs, providing guidance on potential legal and financial risks.

  • Uses financial, econometrical, and statistical modeling to provide recommendations that are in line with specific leader business challenges and inform data-driven outcomes, including operational and financial cost implications.

  • Leverages data-driven stories to inform decision making for compensation related problems. Frames insights and caters analytical storytelling to influence leaders.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manages a broad set of stakeholders and complex cross-organizational dependencies.

  • Builds trusted advisor partnerships with executive-level leaders and managers, representing the organization to area leadership.

  • Influences across the company to accomplish initiatives, serve sales leaders, achieve business goals, owning the relationships with cross-functional (e.g., finance, business/engineering groups, HR, sales segments) and multi-country team members.

  • Champions collaborative efforts across the organization, empowering team members to collectively design, implement, and oversee plans/programs that are customer centric.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Partners across external Microsoft organizations and cross-functional groups (e.g., Engineering) to oversee and deliver product features and usage that are compatible and compliant across all Microsoft tools and processes.

  • Acts as a product unit manager to guide the creation and ownership of global tools, processes, and technical infrastructure to enable the execution of incentive compensation product marketing strategies and plan enactment. Looks across industry products, leveraging insights to strategically create competitive product features which address business needs.

  • Coordinates user acceptance testing (UAT) on new platform features, ensuring testing can be built into team bandwidth.

  • Provides thought leadership in the transformation of delivery models. Sets the direction for innovative efforts and prioritization across the organization.

  • Acts as a functional subject matter expert, leveraging industry-wide perspective and competitor trends to expand compensation solutions and champion new processes.

  • Ensures team members understand all plan changes, components, and rationale, as well as any changes to rationale, related to their segments or areas.

  • Represents plan design changes, additions, and issues to leadership through governance processes and ad hoc engagements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field AND 10+ years experience in compensation, business management and operations, finance and analytics, human resources and people analytics, marketing, or sales strategy

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years data analytics experience aligned to compensation design.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration Degree or Master's Degree in Finance, Computer Science, Data Science Engineering, or related field.

  • 7+ years experience working in a large or highly matrixed organization, preferably in the technology industry.

  • 5+ years program leadership/management experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 5+ years experience in data analytics using Microsoft products (e.g. Excel, PowerBI, SQL) or equivalent.

Sales Compensation M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
