Munising Public Schools Bus Driver & Custodian in Munising, Michigan
The Munising Public School District is accepting applications for a Regular School Bus Driver and Custodian. Qualified candidates that are hired into this full time combination position are eligible for our excellent insurance package and other benefits afforded to full-time employees belonging to the Munising Education Support Personnel Association (MESPA). Receipt of full-time benefits commences when the district has received proof of required bus driver licensure and the employee begins full-time hours (40+). Regular Bus Drivers are expected to drive the AM (pick-up) and PM (drop-off) routes daily. Regular Bus Drivers will also have the opportunity for overtime pay in transporting students/student-athletes for field trips and out of town sporting events. The regularly scheduled custodial hours for this position may occur between the morning and afternoon bus runs. During the school year, approximate bus driving hours are 25/week and custodial hours are 15/week. Custodial hours will be expanded to 35-40 hours/week during the summer months and extended breaks when bus transportation is not provided.
Essential Custodial Duties and Responsibilities:
- To establish and maintain effective lines of communication with district administrators, direct supervisor, bus drivers, custodians, students, staff, parents, and the general public.
- To inspect and ensure the proper cleanliness and maintenance of facilities according to a set schedule.
- To inform the Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Supervisor and School Administrators immediately of any situation that may be hazardous or disruptive to students/employees.
- Lock/unlock facilities as needed and ensure the security of the building/grounds at all times.
- To assist in planning and implementing deep/cyclical cleaning schedules for times when school is not in session such as extended breaks and summer months.
- Periodically assist in providing custodial coverage for athletic/special events as needed.
- Coordinate with direct supervisor, custodial staff, principals and athletic coaches for the purpose of event set up and preparation of athletic fields as needed.
- To assist direct supervisor in removing snow and ice from walks, steps, and common areas before the start of school and/or as needed throughout the day.
- To assist Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Supervisor with landscaping and grounds care as needed.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Supervisor and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
