Murray State University Front-End Web Developer in Murray, Kentucky

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides assistance to the Director of Web Management and Digital Marketing in developing the Murray State website, digital marketing initiatives, and administration of the content management system.

  • Assists in providing digital content that communicates with prospective students and clients.

  • Designs and creates content for web according to requirements provided by various stakeholders within the University.

  • Develops and implements components to support Murray State templates.

  • Serves as backup for Director of Web Management and Digital Marketing as needed.

  • Assists the Director of Web Management and Digital Marketing to ensure all website information is compliant with WCAG , accurate and up to date, all links are valid, and all pages reflect branding and content guidelines established by Murray State University.

  • Assists the branding, marketing and communication team on major marketing and promotional campaigns as needed.

  • Provides graphic design assistance and develops page designs to support campaigns.

  • Assists in the implementation of tools to provide tracking and accountability for marketing efforts.

  • Provides technical support to CMS users.

  • Assists with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics set up and monitoring.

  • Routinely performs quality assurance testing and corrects issues.

  • Works with Director of Web Management and Digital Marketing to develop new features and page templates in CMS , using XML and EXSLT .

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in digital media design, digital marketing, Information Systems communication, graphic design or a related field.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • At least one year of web design or front-end development experience.

  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS .

  • Experience designing for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ( WCAG )

  • Ability to identify and correct issues with cross-browser compatibility.

  • Excellent visual design and layout skills.

  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Adobe Illustrator and designing graphics for web.

  • Highly motivated/self-starter with a sense of ownership, strong collaboration, and desire to succeed.

  • Willing to seek out and learn how to implement new technologies and best practices.

  • Must perform well in a fast-paced environment, balance competing priorities and demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Ability to create and maintain professional working relationships with others.

Hourly Rate: $21.30 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)

Minimum Salary: $21.30

Work Hours:

  • Available to work after normal hours and on weekends as needed when serving as backup for Director of Web Management and Digital Marketing.

  • Work arrangements will be discussed during the interview process
