BUNZL Operations Finance Manager in Murray, Kentucky
Description
We are seeking someone for this unique role that is detail oriented, organized, and methodical with a curious mind to join our Finance team in a newly created position! The Operations Finance Manager will be primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of master data, that Revenue Recognition is correct and complete, and auditing workflows vs project assumptions. The position provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills related to operations and finance and will act as a liaison between the Warehouse team and the Finance team.
The candidate will be a member of the Warehouse Management Team. In this role, the candidate will visit multiple warehouse locations to develop insights and leverage learnings to become an Operational focused Finance Manager.
Responsibilities:
Partner with warehouse leadership to develop a strong understanding of warehouse functions and the Bunzl business model.
Collaborate with the finance organization to understand fee structure and pricing.
Bring a mind-set of continuous improvement to the organization to develop more efficient and better ways to achieve our business objectives.
Reconcile warehouse work being performed vs assumptions from pricing to determine if the scope deviates and pricing should be reviewed.
Monitor and report special project tracking, ad hoc requests, and any warehouse activities outside of normal operations.
Develop and foster a healthy cross-functional team approach, providing the operations team a strong link to Finance.
Perform periodic analysis to review warehouse expenses and update standard costs of warehouse activities.
Support the development of warehouse operation analytics and warehouse profitability analysis.
Work with the central accounting team with billing and month-end closing for the business.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent experience in operations or finance.
Experience in an analytical role in finance, operations management, business management, quantitative analysis, or economics
Minimum 5 years of experience in applying analytics principles (Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Management, Economics or Finance).
Take ownership and be adaptive to the fast-paced nature of the business to manage priorities and adapt as those priorities or scope change.
Applicants should be self-motivated and outgoing with a passion to positively influence business results.
Strong work ethic and a sense of urgency.
Communication skills to effectively present ideas and develop relationships with local operations team and collaborate with a remote finance team.
Curiosity to understand the intricacies of the business and how things work. Willingness to question why.
Desire to contribute to continuous improvement.
Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tool preferred.
JD Edwards system experience preferred.
Data visualization familiarity preferred.
Understanding of operations workflow processes and value propositions.
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel pivot tables, lookups and modeling are required.
Less than 25% travel, mainly between warehouse locations and central finance team office.
