Dartmouth Health Medical Assistant II (MA) - Neurology in Nashua, New Hampshire
Overview
$5,000 Sign on Bonus available to eligible new hires.
This position ensures efficient clinic flow, demonstrates a collaborative approach to patient care, and is responsible for advanced clinical skills and/or programs and processes. Responsible for clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. MAIII performs additional roles within the clinic and organization and provides specialist support to the clinic and/or for the WRI MA program. Demonstrates team engagement and applies concepts learned from continuous development activities.
Responsibilities
Greets, checks in patients, and notifies appropriate providers. Prepares patient, room, and equipment for procedures and exams.
Takes and records vital signs. Informs provider of patient vital signs and concerns.
Recognizes and treats emergency patients as a priority, and assists with patient examinations and treatments.
Registers new patients and establishes a medical record.
Assists patients by filling out insurance and other forms.
Supplies authorized information upon request by third-party payors.
Reviews patient instructions with patients in preparation for specific procedures.
Collects and processes routine laboratory specimens.
Operates and maintains clinical equipment.
Maintains and uses aseptic technique including sterilization, disinfection, and disposal of contaminated material.
Has completed the preceptor course and precepts at least on MA through apprenticeship.
Performs one or more advanced roles such as program leader, procedural specialist or MA program supporter. These can include but are not limited to: state vaccine program co-manager, safety champion, patient engagement champion or MA student coach or MA recruitment activities
Department skills specialist can include pediatric vaccine schedule specialist, MOHS lidocaine specialist, mother/baby specialist, EKG specialist
Actively participates in one or more committees or improvement projects. May include Yellow Belt certification.
Demonstrates continuous development through the completion of two required professional development courses plus evidence of five or more continuing education credits in addition to certification requirements per year.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
12 months full-time or equivalent hours (2,000 hours) as an MA II
Performance review is on-track
Evidence of completion of five or more continuing education in addition to certification requirement.
Completion of DH Leadership courses Communication I and II.
Required Licensure/Certifications
Active American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) certified - CMA designation OR American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered – RMA designation OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant plus 12-month apprenticeship program – CCMA designation.
Current BLS certification required.
