The Cigna Group Chief Operating Officer, Home-Based Care- Evernorth Health Services in Nashville, Tennessee

LOCATION: Nashville, TN area.

POSITION:

The Home-Based Care Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading and managing the execution of the organization’s strategic initiatives and key operations in order to support the achievement of Home-Based Care’s mission, strategies and operating plans. This role will ensure execute on strategies to maximize value creation for Home-Based Care which includes the following businesses: In Home Primary Care, Post Acute Care & TOC, Home Health, Sleep & DME, and Health Risk Solutions.

This role requires a natural leader with experience in managing care delivery operations, particularly in a primary care setting, and core strengths in multi-solution management, KPI development, and client services. The ideal candidate for the COO position should have experience driving cross-functional operational change based on customer feedback, the ability to implement and manage according to key metrics. Excellent communication skills and a customer-service orientation are essential, as is the ability to hire and retain top talent. Healthcare experience, preferably in a multi-site provider-based model, is strongly preferred. Personal attributes include being metrics-driven, execution-oriented, highly organized, and possessing strong emotional intelligence, adversity quotient, and a growth mindset. The COO should be a self-starter comfortable with a degree of autonomy and capable of inspiring growth and followership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy Execution:

  • Oversee the delivery of the strategic initiatives of the Home-Based Care organization.

  • Monitor the performance of each operational unit. Develop a process for performance reporting and execute on corrective actions as necessary.

  • Oversee the Home-Based Care management process that proactively assures achievement of strategic and operational discipline and outcomes.

  • In collaboration with the broader Home-Based Care leadership team oversees the integration of improvements, including employing enhanced capabilities into the overall integrated strategic value proposition. Act as key strategic thought leader along with Home-Based Care leadership in developing innovative, integrated offerings for the marketplace.

Execution and Leadership:

  • Effectively lead and drive the improvement of quality and efficiency of operations within Home Based Care through operations leadership.

  • Develop and foster effective collaboration between functional areas within HBC. Ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling HBC’s strategic goals and objectives.

  • Develop and implement Home Based Care standards and best practices.

  • Communicate key information to Home Based Care stakeholders with respect to marketplace needs, the competitive environment, cost management, and client/customer and provider-focused services.

  • Oversee the planning and directing of activities associated with HBC’s business, financial, operations functions including but not limited to: volume growth drivers, regulatory compliance, strategic sourcing, operational/quality performance and monitoring. Working closely with Home-Based Care’s shared services and clinical leaders.

  • Collaborate with matrix partners to ensure optimization of all value creation levers for the Home-based care business.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration or health-related field.

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of health care industry, Medicare experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of people management experience required. Multi-level people management experience preferred.

  • Expert knowledge of the managed care/health insurance industry, products and services, preferred.

  • Comprehensive understanding of functional areas and the impact on overall performance.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with internal and external business partners and employees.

  • Strong independent decision maker and risk taker.

  • Results oriented.

  • Drives Accountability.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical background, business oriented, strategic thinking capabilities and attention to detail, while maintaining a "big picture" view.

  • Significant experience in managing a P&L (with proven success).

  • Excellent planning and strong problem solving skills that enable quick identification and efficient resolution of issues.

  • Highly collaborative with the ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships, especially in a highly matrixed organization.

  • Understanding of the financial principles and operations of the business and able to drive profitability.

  • Commitment to anticipating, understanding and meeting the needs of internal and external customers.
