Position Description
This is a full-time, Non-Civil Service position with Metro Action Commission, and includes medical, dental, pension, and other insurance benefits. This position is u nder the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and the general supervision of the Facilities Manager and Administrative Services and Operations Director and Executive Director, t his role will pe rform carpentry, repair, and electrical work in the buildings and on the grounds of Metro Action Commission.
Extensive Background Checks are performed on applicants for this position with MAC.
Typical Duties
Serve assigned buildings and related areas
Replace or repair unfixable and/or broken fixtures, furniture and floors
Draw rough sketches of projects needed
Assist in estimating materials and supplies
Perform tasks related to the repair, installation, maintenance and testing/trouble-shooting of electrical equipment
Report any potential hazards immediately to supervisors
Use protective clothing or gear as required
Assist in moving furniture and other fixtures
Deliver various items from one Metropolitan Action Commission site to another site
Perform a variety of related tasks such as minor repairs
Attend meetings as required
Perform other task related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and one (1) year of experience working in maintenance. Valid driver license.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Climb, bend, stoop, and stretch
Knowledge of carpentry and electrical methods
Knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning supplies and janitorial materials and tools
Lift up to 75 pounds
