In this role, you will have the opportunity to administer and manage impactful initiatives such as the New 2 Public Health Residency program, the BEAM program, the MPHD internship program, and other innovative projects. Typical Duties
Coordinates and publishes the annual calendar for internship and career opportunities at Metro Public Health (MPHD).
Maintains connections with external partner agency programs funded through PHIG or connected to Workforce Development.
Manages the Internship Program Cycle:
Posts annual internship opportunities.
Screens applicants.
Notifies internal partners of program requirements and available opportunities.
Oversees onboarding and offboarding for new interns, residents, and students.
Collaborates cross-functionally within the department to ensure the consistency of workforce development programs and effective management of interns.
Conducts post-assignment surveys with participants.
Develops and maintains annual reports on internship programs at MPHD.
Handles administrative tasks:
Controls operations.
Gathers data to evaluate program effectiveness.
Assists in coordination efforts within the department.
Creation of an annual Opportunity Calendar
Annual communication within MPHD of upcoming internship opportunities
Management of the internship experience that results in positive feedback.
Positive growth of the internship program year over year..
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university and one (1) year of responsible, full-time employment in public administration, teaching, business administration, public health administration, public health nursing, public health education, or other appropriate field
or
One (1) year of graduate study in public health administration, public administration, or health education may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
or
A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of public health administration, public administration, public health sanitation, or business
administration, of which at least one (1) year within the past three (3) years must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Government’s employment-based immigration programs.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Two (2) or more years of experience administering or leading an internship program.
Two (2) of more years of experience managing onboarding or orientation programs.
Two (2) or more years as a college admissions program manager or coordinator.
Knowledge of managerial and administrative principles and practices.
Knowledge of budgeting and personnel procedures.
Knowledge of the mission, goals, and services of the health department.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to public health.
Knowledge of community resources and agencies and the services they provide.
Knowledge of Civil Service and departmental rules and procedures.
Skill in working with the public.
Skill in problem solving and setting goals.
Ability to analyze and evaluate programs and to measure their effectiveness.
Ability to implement program changes in an efficient manner.
Ability to allocate resources.
Ability to monitor and analyze activities.
Ability to write letters and/or statistical/analytical reports.
Ability to assess situations accurately.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to coordinate and review the work of employees.
Ability to keep accurate records and write detailed reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
