Job Summary and Qualifications

TriStar Food & Nutrition Registered Dietitian 1 PRN

Overview: The TriStar Food & Nutrition Registered Dietitian 1 is an experienced and skilled dietetic professional holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher. This role is accountable for conducting assessments, implementing interventions, and overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of patients through the Nutrition Care Process. Moreover, it emphasizes delivering exceptional customer service to all patients and employees.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will utilize nutrition screening tools to appropriately identify patients at nutrition risk.

  • You will apply the Nutrition Care Process for patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention development, ensuring thorough monitoring and evaluation.

  • You will initiate nutrition assessments and care plans for patients with complex medical conditions, including critically ill patients and those on enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support.

  • You will provide nutrition counseling for both inpatients and outpatients as necessary.

  • You will adhere to evidence-based nutrition care guidelines, departmental/facility protocols, and nutrition care manual.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Licensed Dietician must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date

  • Commission Dietetic Registration must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date

  • Bachelors Degree

General Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates competency in specific areas as listed on the Competency Checklist.

  • Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually.

  • Integrates ethics in all areas of practice, adhering to confidentiality and patient’s rights policies.

  • Supports the facilities’ mission and values.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Functions:

I. Quality/Regulatory Patient Care and Safety:

  • Utilizes nutrition screening tools effectively to identify patients at nutrition risk.

  • Applies the Nutrition Care Process comprehensively for patient assessment and intervention.

  • Initiates nutrition assessment and care plans for patients with complex medical conditions.

  • Provides nutrition counseling for inpatients and outpatients as indicated.

  • Adheres to evidence-based nutrition care guidelines and protocols.

Performance Improvement:

  • Participates in interdisciplinary team approach and departmental committees.

  • Engages in performance improvement projects as assigned.

II. Education, Development & Retention:

  • Participates in competency assessment process and self-evaluation to establish professional goals.

  • Ensures compliance with registration and licensure requirements.

  • Provides education and training to various healthcare professionals.

  • Mentors and coaches dietetic professionals.

III. Service Patient Service:

  • Maintains a focus on patient-centered care and positive patient/family experiences.

IV. Technology: HCA / Computer Systems:

  • Utilizes HCA hardware and software including Meditech and Computrition Nutrition Care Management program.
