Naval Air Systems Command WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR in Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida

Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Responsibilities You will read and follow chemical procedures to treat industrial wastes. You will operate various kinds of equipment associated with wastewater treatment such as chemical flocculation chambers, oxidate chambers, clarifiers and sludge thickeners are required. You will assess what the needs of the shift are based on what occurred during the previous shift. You will plan, prioritize and organize. You will make adjustments constantly by adding chemicals to keep water within regulated standards. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: following wastewater treating processes relating specifically to industrial wastewater normally encountered in heavy industrial environments; reading and following chemical procedures to treat industrial wastes; using and operating of various kinds of equipment associated with wastewater treatment; performing basic maintenance actions on treatment plant equipment. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The position often requires irregular hours, rotating shift work, and evening and weekend work. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
