United States Fleet Forces Command LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in Naval Base, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the AC&R Air Systems Branch Code 252, Auxiliary Systems Division Code 250, Engineering Department Code 200, Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR. Responsibilities You will be responsible for communicating to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion. You will be responsible for identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. You will be responsible for training or arranging for the training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects. You will be responsible for serving as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members. You will be responsible for preparing reports and maintaining records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinate the preparation, presentation and communication of work-related information to the supervisor. You will be responsible for researching, learning and applying a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products. You will be responsible for performing special engineering analyses and studies in support of Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc. You will be responsible for serving as the Lead Engineering Technician for the Sonar Dome Pressurization System (SDPS) in the AC and R/Air Systems Branch. Incumbent will function as the SDPS Lead for assigned ships in connection with on-scene direct fleet support SDPS Maintenance, Sonar Dome Dives, CNO Availability, CMO Dry Dock evolutions pertaining to the Sonar Dome, and Testing Programs. The incumbent will oversee the MARMC command Sonar Dome Dive scheduling and performing program. This position would be responsible to ensure continued development of MARMC 252 SME’s and SDPS assessors. This position will also assist the C252 Branch Head with tracking of Sonar Dome assessment/inspections scheduled due to the requirements of the Fleet. They will assist the Branch Head in getting other C252 members dive qualified if necessary. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with leadership responsibility for working with team members to achieve specific tasks, produce work products and services, and meet program and production goals such as ensuring Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Centers (MARMC) strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team, applying appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, maintaining program and administrative reference materials, project files, and documents. Experience leading functional checkouts, tests, and inspections for major systems and preparing comprehensive technical reports, formal. Experience assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of assignment difficulty and requirements, and employee capabilities. Experience supplying periodic metrics to show Sonar Dome Dive times for manning purposes and periodicity status of all domes in the fleet. Experience recognizing and reporting errors, inconsistencies or other deficiencies in technical schematics, drawings. Experience leading a team of government employees, military members and contractors in the performance of assigned tasks and assignments. Experience coordinating the work with others as necessary and interpreting policy and regulatory requirements in terms of established objectives. Experience understanding and interpreting plans, schematics, drawings and specifications and making field adjustments/modifications as required. Experience solving unique and difficult problems affecting the overall system associated with engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, electronic, and structural). Experience utilizing engineering and electronics terminology as applied to marine machinery electricity, electronics, and weapons.
