United States Fleet Forces Command LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in Naval Weapons Station, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the SEASPARROW ENGINEERING BRANCH (SEB) (2311) of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities You will provide technical assistance/guidance to other technicians involved in the various aspects of electronic repair and certification for a wide range of equipment/parts. You will resolve problems encountered by lower level technicians including obtaining resources and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise. You will lead the team by identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level, and/or occupational specialization. You will provide on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing technical guidance and direction to support personnel. Experience analyzing technical literature, procedures, and drawings. Experience developing test and repair procedures for electronic and/or mechanical processes. Experience using calibrated equipment, repair standards, and generalized mechanical test equipment. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information Work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing, walking, stretching, bending, stooping, or carrying moderately heavy items such as electronic/mechanical equipment (45 pounds or more) where use of material handling equipment or the assistance of others may be required. Work requires occasional exposure to adverse conditions such as found in production facilities, warehouse, and on ships dust, dirt, extremes of temperature and high noise levels. Some travel may be required to attend meetings, provide technical expertise, gain experience/training, and conduct shore/afloat surveys and audits. Occasional TDY travel may be required. This position requires evening and weekend work. May be required to work occasional overtime including some Saturdays. May be required to work 2nd and 3rd shift assignments during periods of heavy workload. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
