Naval Facilities Engineering Command MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT in Naval Weapons Station, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a Maintenance Superintendent in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia , Facilities Management & Sustainment Product Line in Yorktown. Responsibilities You will perform follow-up inspections to check on the work done to correct deficiencies. You will review construction project scopes of work and estimates for completeness, practicability, and accuracy. You will establish maintenance schedules to meet maintenance production and quality standards. You will assign and explain work requirements to lower level You will allocate manpower among branches and staff for optimum use of available manpower, equipment, and facilities. You will develop strategic plans to defend a continuing level of production workload. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Manages multiple programs and fosters an environment that administers resources in a manner that instills public trust while accomplishing the mission, while being able to monitor progress and evaluate outcomes to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. They must also be able to hold themselves and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results; 2) Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments for others and evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance ensuring staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and professionally developed, and guarantee they are treated in a fair and equitable manner; 3) Validates the capability to formulate and set objectives and priorities and implement plans consistent with long-term interests of the organization taking into consideration the environment, resources, capabilities, constraints, and organizational goals and values. Capitalizes on opportunities and manages risks and contingencies, recognizing the implications for the organization and stakeholders; 4) Provides administrative services for the maintenance, repair, or modification of facilities and related components and directs the upgrades or replacement for utility and other infrastructure assets. Directs the inspection of physical structures, utilities, roadways, and surrounding grounds and be able to set plans and oversee work performed by carpenters, electricians, utility systems operators, machinist, and other various trades; 5) Manages and coordinate maintenance strategies and operations using the following: work scheduling and organization methods, utilization of performance metrics, internal controls, policies and procedures, compliance instructions and other business or maintenance operations guidance needed to operate an effective maintenance branch; 6) Manages planning, scheduling, execution, control, and resourcing of the production process in a facilities maintenance and sustainment activity, while being able to determine objectives, sets priorities, and ensure sound management processes and procedures are in place, ensuring that national interests are well served and comply with established control systems and rules. May be designated as Essential personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to destructive weather, disasters, or periods of increased security threat.
