Position Summary/Description:

A Sign-On Bonus of $7,500 is available for the successful applicant to be paid in the first month on university payroll. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Career Development, the Associate Director of Marketing and Analytics plays a critical role in developing and executing marketing strategies to enhance the visibility and impact of career development at UNC -Chapel Hill. This role oversees data-informed marketing initiatives, manages a team, and works collaboratively with the University’s schools, departments, alumni and external partners to support student success and engagement, career development, and employment outcomes.

The Associate Director serves as a University-wide expert on career-related customer persona and segmentation, leads and executes a robust student and employer marketing plan, and translates career data into storytelling. These efforts should increase student and employer engagement, advance Carolina’s enduring brand, and establish a clear value proposition for career development. To ensure consistency with the broader branding and marketing efforts, this role will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Executive Director of Communications and Special Projects for Student Affairs.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field.

  • Five (5) years of job-related experience in marketing, with at least three years in a leadership role, preferably within higher education or career services.

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience of professional staff.

  • Experience in marketing within career services or higher education context.

  • Knowledge of content management systems ( CMS ) and marketing automation platforms.

  • Experience leading change and innovation, resulting in a high level of performance outcomes.

  • Expertise and understanding of emerging trends and innovations within the field of marketing.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with multiple and diverse constituents to accomplish goals.

  • Budget management skills.

  • Working knowledge of online recruiting systems (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity, etc.).

  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations.

  • Advanced skills in program management and administration.

  • Advanced skills in leadership, organization, relationship development, communication, strategic planning, marketing/promotion, public speaking, and administration.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in marketing analytics and data-informed decision making.

  • Strong understanding and application of digital marketing channels and strategies.

  • Experience with customer personas, segmentations, and marketing plans.

  • Demonstrated experience in storytelling and working with communications professionals.

  • Analytical mind and problem solver with ability to think strategically.

  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated leadership in building relationships and networks.

  • Knowledge of and experience with program assessment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and integrity.

  • Ability to collaborate and foster a spirit of engagement.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Understanding of diversity issues in the delivery of programs and services

  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students across a variety of units and divisions.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.

  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and professional judgement.

  • Working knowledge of office related computer applications (ex. Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
