University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill Post-Doc Research Associate in NC-Chapel-Hill, United States

Employment Type: Postdoctoral Scholar

Vacancy ID: PDS004133

Position Summary/Description:

The Center for Animal MRI ( CAMRI , http://camri.org/) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is in search of a Postdoctoral Research Associate with a strong track record in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques.

CAMRI , affiliated with the Biomedical Research Imaging Center (https://www.med.unc.edu/bric/) and the Department of Neurology (https://www.med.unc.edu/neurology/), focuses on: (1) developing and applying novel fMRI methods and study their relevant contrast mechanisms, and (2) employing cutting-edge neuromodulation and recording techniques to explore the mechanisms behind large-scale functional network transitions and relevant behaviors. Techniques commonly used in CAMRI include MRI , electrical deep brain stimulation, optogenetic stimulation, chemogenetic stimulation, electrophysiology, fiber photometry, and calcium imaging.

Specifically, this position calls for a highly motivated candidate to enhance zero echo time ( ZTE ) and/or ultra-short echo time ( UTE )-based techniques for fMRI. The success of this research line is expected to advance silent, sensitive, specific, and artifact-resistant fMRI methods that can be broadly utilized, enabling new capabilities to map brain function during active behaviors.

For inquiries regarding this position, please contact Dr. Ian Shih at shihy@unc.edu.
